Volunteer Walk Leader Training
As part of the walking the way to health initiative, Volunteer Walk Leader training is aimed at adults who wish to increase their physical activity throughout the borough and to encourage people to take up walking as a means to be more active. After attending the course volunteers are encouraged to set up their own walking groups and to pass on their knowledge and experience to encourage people to be more active. This is a fully accredited course which means you receive a certificate for your achievements; the course is free of charge and includes lunch and refreshments.
Nordic Walking Courses
We are now able to offer Nordic Walking courses, if you interested please call Andrea Wood, details below.
National Step-O-Meter Programme
This is also part of the walking the way to health initiative, National Step-o-meter programme is also aimed at the same target groups i.e. adults but also GP referrals for patients /clients who have nearly zero physical capability. This is a twelve week programme designed with self controlled and measured regime, to enable clients to “take it at your own pace” to gain the best possible results for that individual. Wearing a step-o-meter really does encourage the individual to be more active and work towards new targets set by themselves.
For these and other walk related activities please contact Walking Coordinator Andrea Wood on 01226 736644 or 07920 839177.
